Raipur, September 11, 2026: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), in association with the Computer Science Association (CSA) and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), SSIPMT Raipur, organised “The Indoor Odyssey – Game Competition” on September 11, 2026. The one-day co-curricular event aimed to encourage students to participate in indoor sports and develop essential skills such as discipline, concentration, strategic thinking, teamwork and sportsmanship.
The competition featured two indoor games, badminton and chess, providing students with opportunities for physical activity, intellectual engagement and healthy competition beyond the classroom.
Badminton Competition Witnesses Enthusiastic Participation
The event began with participant registration, followed by a welcome session and briefing on the competition format, match procedures and rules. The badminton competition was held at the Boys Hostel Badminton Court.

Approximately 22 students participated in the badminton event, demonstrating agility, coordination, concentration and competitive spirit. The matches progressed through the preliminary rounds, quarter-finals and semi-finals, leading to the final match.
The competition encouraged participants to demonstrate discipline, determination and sportsmanship while competing in a positive and supportive environment.
Chess Competition Encourages Strategic Thinking
The chess competition was conducted at the CSE Research Lab in the Academic Block, with approximately 10–11 students participating.
The matches provided students with a platform to showcase their analytical thinking, strategic planning, patience, concentration and decision-making abilities. The competition progressed through successive rounds and concluded with the final round, where participants competed for the top positions.

The chess event highlighted the importance of logical reasoning and problem-solving, complementing the physical activity and coordination emphasised in badminton.
Winners Recognised for Their Performance
Following the completion of both competitions, the results were announced, and the winners and outstanding performers were recognised for their achievements and sporting spirit.

The event concluded with a closing session and group photograph. The organisers appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and acknowledged the contributions of faculty members, judges, student coordinators and volunteers in ensuring the smooth conduct of the competition.
The Indoor Odyssey Promotes Holistic Student Development
The Indoor Odyssey – Game Competition provided students with an engaging platform to balance academic learning with sports and recreational activities. By combining badminton and chess, the event encouraged both physical fitness and intellectual development.
The competition also promoted peer interaction, discipline, healthy rivalry and personal growth. Participation in such co-curricular activities helps students develop transferable skills, including teamwork, strategic thinking, decision-making and the ability to perform under pressure.
Through this initiative, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, CSA and IQAC at SSIPMT Raipur reinforced their commitment to fostering a collaborative, inclusive and student-centred campus environment.
The successful completion of the event highlighted the importance of sports and co-curricular activities in supporting students’ overall development and encouraging a healthy balance between academics and extracurricular pursuits.
